FAQS

What is the difference between a sex coach and a sex therapist?
Sex therapists and sex coaches both work to support folks in improving their sexual well-being, but they do so in different ways. A sex therapist is a licensed mental health professional trained to diagnose and treat psychological or emotional issues related to sex, often focusing on trauma, dysfunction, or mental health conditions. A sex coach, on the other hand, takes a more goal-oriented and educational approach, working with clients who are seeking to enhance pleasure, build confidence, improve communication, and explore desire in a safe, shame-free environment. For clients who aren’t necessarily dealing with a diagnosable condition but instead want to feel more empowered in their bodies, deepen intimacy with themselves or a partner, or navigate new experiences, a sex coach may be the right fit. Coaching can be especially beneficial for those looking for a holistic, somatic, and pleasure-forward approach that supports exploration without the need for clinical intervention. In Canada, coaching is not a regulated practice the same way therapy is. However, reputable coaches will often undergo certification programs and training to ensure they are following ethical guidelines. Sometimes, the best option for a client is to work with both a therapist and coach. I would be happy to help with referrals when needed.

Are you certified?
I am currently studying under the Somatica Institute and will be finishing in October, 2025. Once finished, I will be a certified sex and relationship coach under the Somatica Method. I am also a trained sexual health educator through Options Sexual Health Clinic based in Vancouver, BC.

I’m scared to talk someone. How do I know this will even help?
Asking for help is hard. Period. Our sessions are completely confidential and in our sessions, you exist in a judgement- free space. My role is to help support you in achieving your goals, and I applaud anyone willing to seek support in doing so. You won’t know if the support I offer is the kind you need until we have a chance to talk about it. I invite you to book a free consult call with me. This way, you can ask me any questions you need to feel comfortable and I can get a sense of you and your goals. One step at a time, at whatever pace makes sense for you.

Are sessions covered by insurance?
Unfortunately, at this point in time coaching sessions are not covered by extended benefit insurance policies. I recognize cost can be a huge barrier for many people. If you find yourself in need of support but feel financially limited, reach out to discuss my sliding scale options.

Do you do virtual sessions?
Currently, I am only able to offer virtual sessions. We are working on opening a physical location and will be able to assist come this time.
